Work orders and Production Studio

The work order is where a job stops being a quotation and becomes production. It carries positions, materials, price analysis, status and priority. Production Studio is the tool above it: you select one or more orders and, across all of them at once, produce the cutting list, run optimisation, prepare trolleys, print labels and export for the machines — rather than doing it order by order.

That difference is felt on the shop floor. If seven orders are cut on a Monday, their profiles are optimised together rather than seven times separately — and the waste is correspondingly lower.

HOW IT WORKS

What Work Orders actually does.

01

An order that knows its own state

Alongside positions and materials, the order carries a status and a priority, so the list shows what is a draft, what is ready, what is in production and what is finished. Priorities run from low to urgent. Price analysis shows the purchase and selling side at order level, not only per position.

Statuses
Draft, ready, in progress, done and cancelled.
Priorities
Low, normal, high and urgent.
Materials
The required material list with stock coverage.
Price analysis
Purchase and selling side across the whole order.
02

Production Studio across several orders

In the left-hand list you select the orders that belong to the same production run. Everything that follows works on that selection: the cutting list consolidates profiles, optimisation arranges them onto bars, trolleys are filled in machining order, and the BOM is totalled across every selected order. Machine export is triggered from the same place.

Cutting list
Profiles, lengths, angles and reinforcement across the selected orders.
Optimisation
Four strengths — fast, balanced, strong and ultra — with a utilisation figure.
Trolleys
Pieces distributed across trolleys and bins, in machining order.
BOM
Materials totalled across every selected order, for purchasing.
Labels
Printed identifiers with barcode or QR code for pieces and packs.
Tracking
A record of what has been exported, per order.
03

Optimisation you can see in the numbers

Optimisation arranges pieces onto bars of a given length and reports utilisation — how much material was used and how much is left over. Four strengths trade speed against result: fast for an estimate, ultra when a large batch is being cut and every percentage point counts. Double cutting is enabled where the machine supports it.

Utilisation
Percentage of material used and the offcuts remaining.
Bar length
Calculated against the actual length you purchase.
Double cutting
Enabled where the machine supports it.
04

From order to dispatch

Once production is finished, a dispatch note is generated from the order with the positions that actually leave. Profile demand is compared against stock, so a shortage shows up before the saw stops. Missing lines move into purchase orders to suppliers.

CAPABILITIES / 01—06

What the module covers.

01

Statuses and priorities

Draft, ready, in progress, done and cancelled, with priority from low to urgent.

02

Work across several orders

Cutting list, optimisation, trolleys and BOM across every selected order at once.

03

Optimisation in four strengths

Fast, balanced, strong and ultra, each reporting material utilisation.

04

Trolleys and bins

Pieces arranged in machining order, with identifiers that also travel into the export.

05

Coded labels

Printed identifiers for pieces and packs, with barcode or QR code.

06

Shortage before stoppage

Profile demand compared against stock, with shortfalls moving into purchase orders.

Limits, plainly stated

Machine export requires the CNC module and a postprocessor for your machine model. Comparing demand against stock works only when the inventory module is included. Optimisation results depend on the bar lengths and rules entered into the materials database. Production Studio does not monitor production live — it records what has passed through it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Clear and specific.

01Can I process several work orders together?

Yes, that is the purpose of Production Studio. You select orders from the list, and the cutting list, optimisation, trolleys, BOM and export all work across the whole selection at once.

02How much waste does optimisation save?

It depends on the batch, the bar lengths and the variety of profiles, so we will not quote a percentage we cannot guarantee. The software reports actual utilisation for every optimisation, and the strength is selectable from fast to ultra.

03What are trolleys and what are they for?

Trolleys are a physical unit on the shop floor. The software distributes pieces across trolleys and bins in machining order, and those identifiers also travel into the machine export, so a piece is where the machine expects it.

04Can I print labels for pieces?

Yes. Identifiers for pieces and packs are printed with a barcode or QR code, from a template that can be edited.

05Can I see a material shortage in advance?

Yes, when the inventory module is included. Profile demand is compared against stock and the shortfall is shown before production stops; missing lines move into a purchase order.

06Does the software monitor production live?

No. Production Studio records what has passed through it and what status an order is in, but frameFUSION is not described as a live machine-monitoring system.
